Washington County Career Center
The Washington County Career Center (WCCC) offers technical career training to about 380 junior and senior high schools students across the county. Three quarters of WCCC graduates are placed in jobs upon graduation. Others pursue higher education. Program offerings include: computer graphics, computer support, carpentry, electricity, masonry, electronics, industrial mechanics, welding, cosmetology, forestry/natural resources, health/medical technology, landscaping & floral design, auto collision/custom paint, auto service, and heavy truck & equipment mechanics.

Additionally, WCCC offers adult training programs in a broad array of fields. WCCC has developed customized training programs to meet the needs of area industries. Notably, WCCC has a CISCO Networking Academy, Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing, Chemical Operator I & II, Instrumentation & Electricity, and Programmable Logic Controllers. Washington State Community College

Washington State Community College
Washington State Community College (WSCC) is a comprehensive two-year community college accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. WSCC (www.wscc.edu) offers its over 2,300 students more than 50 programs of study. Articulation agreements with other institutions of higher education allow for WSCC credits to transfer to four-year institutions. Programs with Franklin University and Rio Grande University provide opportunities for students to finish a bachelor's degree on the Washington State campus. The WSCC’s Opportunity Scholars Program is increasing college participation in Washington County every year. WSCC Post Secondary Enrollment Program allows high school students to earn college credits while still in high school.

WSCC also has a center for Business & Technology that offers training programs for business and industry. Over 3,000 people were trained through the Business & Technology Center in 2005. West Virginia University - Parkersburg
Just across the Ohio River in Wood County, West Virginia, West Virginia University’s Parkersburg campus (www.wvup.edu) offers a blend of certificate and associate programs as well as select bachelor’s degrees. WVU-P has approximately 3,800 credit students and 3,000 non-credit students.
