Foreign Trade Zone

The Southeastern Ohio Port Authority (SeOPA) has been granted the authority by the U.S. Foreign Trade Zones Board to operate a General Purpose FTZ #264 in Washington County, Ohio, as an economic development tool. A FTZ is a restricted-access site that is legally considered to be outside the stream of U.S. Customs Territory allowing companies that are importing products into the United States to delay, reduce or eliminate import duties. FTZs also allow Customs advantages, including the ability to avoid time delays/penalties, reduce paperwork and allow faster delivery.

Washington County’s FTZ is designated as a warehousing and distribution FTZ. With approval of the U.S. Foreign Trade Zone Board, SeOPA has the ability to offer FTZ subzone status to manufacturing facilities or modify FTZ #264 to allow for the possibility of inverted tariff savings to manufacturers.  The U.S. Foreign Trade Zones Board has a savings calculator on its website; calculate your company's possible savings by clicking http://ia.ita.doc.gov/ftzpage/info/savingscalc.pdf

Five non-contiguous sites in Washington County have been designated at as part of FTZ #264:

  • The Wetz Warehouses, consisting of five warehouses that total 583,080 square feet, on 147 acres off State Route 7 near County Road 10 in Warren Township.
  • The Hi-Vac Building, a 110,000-square-feet manufacturing facility, on 16 acres off Industry Road in Marietta.
  • The Two Rivers complex, which is a four-story warehouse facility on 13 acres off Greene Street in Marietta.
