Workers Compensation
Starting over 10 years ago, Ohio began to make a series of changes to its workers compensation system, one of the largest funds in the country. At one time workers compensation was a barrier to business in Ohio. Not anymore. Ohio has created a managed care network, provided incentives for safety programs and drug-free workplaces, created a group-rating program, and cracked down on fraud.
The reforms have been so successful that over $10 billion has been returned to employers through premium reductions, credits and dividends. The map below shows average premiums in Ohio are between $3 and $3.99 per $100 of payroll, which is on par with the national average.
