Feel Safe Again
While it probably isnt a good idea to leave your doors unlocked all night no matter where you live these days if it were, Washington County would be the place where people would feel comfortable doing it.
FBI data compiled and analyzed by Sperlings Best Places indicate that on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest crime rate, the Parkersburg-Marietta area scores a crime rate of 2 the second lowest rating possible. According to statistics compiled by the federal government, in the year 2000, Washington County had just 1,217 reported crimes or roughly .26 percent of the total crimes reported in the entire state of Ohio. Comparatively speaking, for the same year, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, had 47,752 reported crimes, roughly 10.6 percent of the total crimes for the state.
People feel safe here for a reason they are.
