Quality Education, Close to Home
Whether its a certificate in welding or a Masters in Psychology, educational opportunities abound here. Washington County hosts four formal institutions for higher learning - nationally recognized Marietta College, Washington State Community College, Marietta Bible College and the Washington County Career Center. All four facilities offer easily accessible campuses, an extensive catalog of courses for first-time students and continuing education, first-rate instructors and small class sizes to enable you to get the most out of your education.
Just beyond our borders in Parkersburg, West Virginia, lies more opportunity for learning at West Virginia University of Parkersburg, Ohio Valley University and Mountain State College. For those interested in driving a little further, within a fifty mile radius are Ohio University (Athens, Ohio), Hocking College (Nelsonville, Ohio), Muskingum College (New Concord, Ohio) and Salem International University (Salem, West Virginia).
Its so true that much of the most useful knowledge one acquires comes from those people around them. In addition to the formal educational opportunities in this area, there are a host of organizations that offer a variety of classes and courses to our residents. They include: the Washington County Ohio State University Extension Office, the ONeill Senior Center, the Ely Chapman Education Foundation, the Washington County Public Library and Artsbridge.
