Commuting Patterns

Putnam Street

Commuting to other counties for work is common in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Roughly 25 percent of the workers employed in Washington County are commuting from nearby counties. Almost 30 percent of employed Washington Countians are leaving the county for jobs. Thus, Washington County has a net of almost 1,400 “out commuters” on a daily basis. These people represent a pool of qualified workers that might choose to work closer to home if given an opportunity.
